My name is Michelle and welcome to my
blog. A devoted cook and eater, I like to drink tea, wear tartan and potter about in the garden. I live in an old weatherboard farmhouse with my husband Leo and two children Elsa and Hugo in the Tasmanian
countryside.
We moved into our house in 2007 and I
started this blog as a way to capture and remember those special moments that
whiz by in a blur :: those crazy days of babies and toddlers. As my children have grown older, the spotlight has shifted away from them and the focus now is on my stories. Although my blog
title remains the same, I now share stories and photos of our vegetable garden, foraging, camping adventures, preserving, recipes, keeping chickens and bees :: trying to live the simple life in the Tasmanian countryside.
With my children at school fulltime, I now
have more time to do the things I love and most of that revolves around food.
Sometimes I even get paid for it.
My very first book, A Table in the Orchard is out now, you can read about it here. I contributed a lot of my favourite preserving recipes to Not Just Jam a book by Matthew Evans and I'm putting the final touches to a cookbook that I'm co-writing for release mid next year - stay tuned!
I also work as a food stylist and home
economist and my styling work has appeared in Feast Magazine , Delicious Magazine, Inside Out, Slow Living and Country Style.
I’ve worked on cookbooks with Matthew
Evans and the talented photographer Alan Benson, Winter on the Farm , the
Deli Book, Gone Fishing, Summer on The Farm and Not Just Jam. I've also worked on books by great Tassie cooks such as Sally Wise , Ben Melbourne and Nick Haddow from Bruny Island Cheese.
Sometimes I'm cooking, sometimes consulting on food based projects and sometimes I'm styling. But I'm always thinking about food.

And finally, I also teach food styling workshops from time to time.

Diamond painting is an exciting and creative pastime, which is becoming increasingly popular among crafters. It is a type of mosaic art that uses tiny “diamond-like” resin rhinestones to create vibrant paintings and designs. The gems are adhered to a canvas, following a printed pattern, with the use of wax or adhesive glue.
