This is the windowsill in my kitchen today. I love the light here, south facing, always soft and always something interesting sitting on the ledge. Today there is a jug filled with kale from the garden, the last of the tomatoes desperately trying to ripen, my new matryoshka measuring cups and a thrifted little wooden bowl and spoon filled with cooking salt.
Today is my first day off in ages, child free, nowhere to be, and I'm enjoying just wasting time reading blogs and drinking coffee. But, there are pears to preserve, quinces to pickle and a couple of barrow loads of compost to shift. Maybe one more coffee first, then I'll get right onto it. Truly I will.
What's on your windowsill today?
On my window sills is dust, that isn't so romantic is it! Enjoy your day, it sounds divine
ReplyDeleteDiffused daylight and the prospect of cooking are wonderful things to have on a windowsill. gxo
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great start to the day. My windowsill is also full of ripening tomatoes (to be honest I'll be glad to see the end of them...we are pulling them out this weekend to plant garlic finally). My windowsill is also full of confiscated 'junk + trinkets' less photographic. What quince pickle recipe do you use? I'm still struggling through the boxes of quinces (but finally making some progress).
ReplyDeleteOn my windowsill today is my son's new budgie, Ned. He's surveying the view of the fig tree and the yellow roses.
ReplyDeleteI'm also sitting here blog-reading when I should be crossing things off the housework list.
Enjoy your late tomatoes!
Left over mothers day flowers hanging on for dear life!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
A radio (Radio National addicts), parsley in a glass, a real Maple syrup can (cause they're too cute to throw away), two red teapots (my latest purchase is a nice spotty one) and my vase collection.
ReplyDeleteThe light through your window is beautiful, sounds like a nice way to spend the day!
A tea pot. Some cups and a whole lot of mail I need to sort!!
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds lovely.
Chris
Your windowsill is the equivalent of your day - full of useful but lovely things. Enjoy it all. Mine gets east light and I love the view. Right now it has hot-housed basil and a blue tea set made by my oldest daughter.
ReplyDeleteMy sills always have plants and pottery - sometimes dog toys and, sadly, little things that need putting away.
ReplyDeleteI have those exact matryoshka cups on my kitchen windowsill! They're so cute. I also have a pair of ceramic salt and pepper shakers shaped like little birds. Tomatoes are such a pain when they grow mould before ripening- mine always do that!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like my kitchen window sill in Feb!!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog! Just going to have a bit of a read now
Aw, tomatoes sunning themselves on the windowsill reminds me off Mum and Dad's home. Lovely pic.

I too have the matryoschka's on my sill .....
ReplyDeleteMy window sill is always a collector of odd things. A half filled cup of flour seems to permanantly sit there, and joining it are some green zebra tomatoes today.
ReplyDeleteThats what my kitchen window sill looks like during summer! At the moment she's pretty clean, the only thing's worth mentioning is a plastic glass with grass seeds growing as an experiment for my five year old, a lucky bamboo plant and a tin collecting used coffee grind from my morning coffee that ends up in the compost.
ReplyDeleteOh look, and you even have exactly the same measuring cups as me! This just couldn't get more delightful for me, not possible!
